St Leonard's Primary School, St Leonards. Foundation Year.
In Semester Two, 2012, I completed three weeks placement with Grade Preps at St Leonard's Primary School, St Leonards. During this placement, I was able to develop my teaching skills, particularly in English. I took a lot of English lessons whilst I was on this placement, however I was also able to plan and implement mathematics, art and physical education. Whilst on placement I was also able to observe music and language - Indonesian classes as well as English and Mathematics. I attend regular staff meetings, introduced to a program on e safety and also attend an excursion to Queenscliff. I was also able to witness an emergency teacher, parent helpers, Religion in a government school and Prep orientation day. St Leonard's was also a very open learning space, as shown in the picture on the left, so it was a very different teaching experience for me. In my class, I had around 18 boys and only two girls, so the dynamics were very different. I also had two students who had autism and one student who had a lot of difficulty with fine motor movements such as cutting and writing. Below I have attached some artifacts collected from this placement which include; the guideline booklet, report form and a variety of lessons planned and implemented.
